“My caregiver is an angel in disguise; she's one of the best things that ever happened to me. She can adapt to anything and always has a smile. I am particular about how the house looks and I told her the other day that maybe that was silly. But she said, ‘If that is what you want, we will do it.’ I had a stroke in October and I have exercises to do from rehab. She does them right along with me. She lets me do what I can do. Older people like me feel dependent and it's such a drastic change. For me, my caregiving makes me feel important.

About Companion Care

Enriching Life’s Journey

Companion Care was launched in 1997 in Lafayette, California by Barbara Schuh and expanded to New Mexico in 2003. The New Mexico Companion Care is owned and operated by Janet and Paula Schuh.

Employees of Companion Care are committed to "being there" for their clients. They respect the whole person, no matter what their needs. Building relationships between client and caregiver is important.

Ready.

They might not need me–

Yet they might–

I’ll just let my heart be

Just in sight–

A smile so small

As mine, might be–

Precisely their Necessity.

- Emily Dickinson
